Can you make a living with online surveys?

Pssst……Yes you. Hey don’t be shy come here. Do you want to make $3000 to $9000 per month taking online surveys? Hey hey hey Shhhhhhhhh………be quiet….I am telling this to you because I like you kid. This is your lucky day.

Now let me tell you a trite phrase. “You can’t get something for nothing” Really, you can’t. Yes I know you are the exception right? I am not really trying to be sarcastic but I have discovered a few things while doing some online surveys which are:

1) The best surveys pay anywhere from $3.00/hr to around $7.00/hr for your time. Some surveys may pay as high as $10.00 per hour but these are very infrequent.


2) It is hard to qualify for surveys. In my time taking surveys, I only qualified for about 20% of the surveys. This seems to be consistent from what I have read from what others have experienced. Now I do believe that it will vary on the demographics there may be people who will commonly get more opportunities than others. However, bottom line is that a person will not qualify into all surveys.


3) Many sites pay you for your valuable time in sweepstake entries. Now imagine planning on getting paid and finding that all the points you earn are only good for entry in sweepstakes. This in my opinion is a monumental waste of time.


4) The surveys are inconsistently dispersed to you. You have no way to effectively plan your time. The surveys come without a set frequency and if you do not participate when they come, they fill and are no longer available to take. You cannot plan for a set amount of work. The surveys are there………..Well when they are there.

So a person cannot make money online with surveys right?

No, a person can make money online with surveys. It is hard to take these surveys and retire rich folks and that is my main point. I have heard the same with filling envelopes and selling Amway. The problem with all these is that the pay is almost never worth the time expended (Plus it is always way over stated). Now, I honestly think that it could be possible for a person to make more on focus groups and higher paying surveys. Heck it may even be possible to make $10/hr to $15/hr. The thing is that these rates would not be available for a typical full time effort of 40 hours per week. In fact a person would be real lucky if they could sustain thees rates more than 1 or 2 hours per day.

Now someone, who is a night clerk at a hotel/motel, could take a survey on the computer while they are sitting at the desk bored to tears. A person who is a homemaker could take these surveys while their kids are sleeping.

Don’t take this the wrong way. I am not saying that a person should not take surveys. If a person were to take $10.00 worth of surveys a day, in a 30 day month that would be $300.00 per month. There are also some focus groups and surveys that pay more money.


I’ll tell you what……….I won’t chastise anyone for taking surveys. Heck, I make less money writing this blog (I will be lucky to make a penny from add revenue on this post).However, for those who are interested in taking surveys, let’s find the best survey sites and separate them from the non-worthwhile sites. Folks, one more thing..........
